International Sales

International sales/shipping begin March 1, 2008

Unless you will be making quite a large order, ordering from us will likely be prohibitively expensive due to import permit and international shipping costs so it may be in your best interest to make group orders. Shipping will be calculated at the Canada Post International Air Parcel post rate and is included in the final invoice. Please note that that all phytosanitary and associated export fees as well as responsibility and costs for any import documentation are borne by the customer on international transactions. If the proper forms are not filled out, the plants will be seized by customs officials at the border. The plants are not returned to us, they are destroyed, so you have paid for plants that you will never receive. (Although they will send you a nice receipt for the destroyed plants)

C.I.T.E.S.

Our current CITES permit allows us to export Dionaea muscipula to Australia, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Malaysia, China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan and the USA. There is no charge for the CITES permit but if your country is not listed or you are interested in Nepenthes or Sarracenia don't attempt to order before contacting us, Canada customs will not let your order over the border so we will not process it. If there is enough interest from countries outside of our permit list or for other CITES regulated varieties we can apply for additional permits in order to serve your needs better. Remember to contact us with any questions so we can endeavor to meet your specific requirements.

 Sales/Shipping to the EU

Because of stringent phytosanitary regulations, shipping plants to the EU is an interesting experience to say the least. The EU phytosanitary requirements state that the plants must be inspected and treated for leaf miner (Liriomyza) which is present in our area. Even though this particular pest does not infest carnivorous plants and our plants are grown in enclosed greenhouses, this requirement is stipulated by the European Union and it must be met to allow entry of the plants into the EU. The treatment that we use is a Carbaryl application which is applied once and must be done immediately prior to export, this may cause existing foliage to darken during shipping but does not affect new growth. Proof of treatment, complete with pesticide application records must be provided for the phytosanitary inspection or an EU shipment will not be allowed. As we don't treat all of our orders, it would be in their best interest for residents of the EU who are considering ordering from us to let us know what they propose to order in advance so that we can assure there are enough treated plants in stock to cover those orders before an inspection.

International Shipping

In order to expedite both foreign and domestic customs border processing, all plants are shipped free of planting medium with the roots wrapped in damp synthetic fiber. Whole plants are then wrapped in damp paper towel, bagged and boxed securely and shipped International Air Parcel Post. We've found this method to be the best for safe secure delivery of plants and although we don't make fully insuring an order compulsory we do recommend it as we cannot guarantee against carrier problems once the shipment is FOB.

International Retail Orders

Minimum international retail plant order is $150.00 CAN (excluding Phyto and shipping fees)

International retail orders can be made through the PayPal shopping cart. The phytosanitary costs are as follow: Any shipment under $1600 value is a $12.25 flat rate. $5.00 + GST for the inspection and $7.00 for the certificate. Any shipment over $1600 value will be a $69.50 flat rate. $50.00 + GST for the inspection and $17.00 for the certificate. There is also a $35.00 fee for customs handling as the shipment must be couriered to the nearest border office where it will receive a final customs export inspection and stamp. The PayPal shopping cart does not calculate these additional fees or appropriate shipping costs so you will be emailed a PayPal money request for the balance of the inspection and shipping fees after we determine your shipping costs and before the phytosanitary inspection. Final payment will be required promptly as we prefer to ship within 72 hours of the phytosanitary inspection.

International Wholesale Orders

Please do not ask for wholesale prices unless you are a registered re-seller with a valid re-sellers identification number. Minimum international wholesale order is $500.00 CAN (excluding Phyto and shipping fees).

International wholesale orders can be made through email or phone correspondence. Payment can be made through the PayPal send money option or international money order upon confirmation of the order. The $12.25 - $69.50 cost for the phytosanitary inspection and certificate will be included in the initial invoice. There is also a 5% fee for customs handling that will be billed with shipping costs before shipping as the shipment must be couriered to the nearest border office where it will receive a final customs export inspection and stamp . As wholesale orders are usually large enough to accommodate prompt processing, shipping should occur within 2 weeks of payment. Final payment will be required promptly as we prefer to ship within 72 hours after the phytosanitary inspection.
